Children’s Liturgy of the Word, or as it is more affectionately known – CLOW, is an extension of our Sunday Mass. It is a worship experience geared especially to children. It mirrors the worship experience of the larger community in an engaging and child friendly manner.
The Word of God has a message that is as relevant and fitting for children as it is for adults; however, children often fail to hear the message simply because the adult vocabulary is beyond their comprehension. Children’s Liturgy of the Word offers an opportunity for children to hear Scripture in words they understand and to share their own understanding of God’s word.
At Divine Mercy Parish, we are working to create a warm and fun environment that will help make the Mass accessible to children and enhance their experience of church. We are excited to offer this to families on alternate Sundays at our 11:00 AM Sunday Mass (at our St. Paul’s Site). There is no registration needed for families who wish to participate. The family should simply sit in church as usual for the beginning of the Mass. Children will be called forward after the Sign of the Cross and Greeting by Father. They will then be escorted by our CLOW team to a designated space in the foyer for the Liturgy of the Word. Parish Volunteers will return the children to their families in the church at the time of the Offertory and will celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with their family and Parish community. If at any time parents or guardians wish to join their children in the CLOW space for the Liturgy of the Word, you are more than welcome!
Divine Mercy Parish is currently offering Children’s Liturgy of the Word every other Sunday (alternating with our Hospitality Sundays) during the 11:oo am Mass. Here is our Fall Schedule:
This ministry serves the youngest of our parishioners by offering a Children’s liturgy of the Word during our 11 am Sunday Mass. Through this ministry we hope to create a warm and fun environment that will help make the Mass accessible to children and enhance their experience of church.
You can serve in a variety of ways in this ministry, including leading a session, being a small group helper and assisting in the set up and take down of the environment. Volunteers in this ministry have an enthusiasm for the faith and a willingness to share it with young people. This ministry has a strong team approach and volunteers will enjoy sharing in faith and service with their peers. Materials, resources and training will be provided by the Parish.
