Ultimately, Revelation makes clear that at the end of time, the Lord\u2019s salvation and victory will come and put an end to the current struggles we face in our world because of the powers of sin and evil. class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em><strong>The Command to Rejoice:<\/strong><\/em><\/p><ul><li>What causes you to rejoice?\u00a0 Where is your joy?<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/121723.cfm\">Isaiah 61<\/a> gives us the reasons to rejoice:\u00a0 In the Gospel of Luke we hear Jesus take up the messianic mantel of Isaiah to reveal who he is and what he does (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+4%3A14-28&amp;version=NIV\">Luke 4<\/a>) Compare the features as they appear in Isaiah and in Luke and reflect on what they reveal about who Jesus is and what his mission is:<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>&#8220;Bring glad tidings to the poor&#8221; &#8211; good news (gospel) to the economically and spiritually poor.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>&#8220;To heal the brokenhearted&#8221; (consider the heart &#8211; in the bible the heart names the deepest center of thought and action &#8211;\u00a0 the soul)\u00a0 The heart is meant to be in union with the heart of God.\u00a0 It is meant to inform all of what we do.\u00a0 We are all brokenhearted.\u00a0 To heal means to save,\u00a0 to restore us to friendship with God &#8212; rejoice<\/li><li>&#8220;To proclaim liberty to captives and release to prisoner&#8221;\u00a0 Captivity and imprisonment are metaphors for sin.\u00a0 The soul is meant to fly &#8212; we need freedom to to reach out to the world, to the transcendent &#8211; to reach for God.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>&#8220;To announce a year of favor from the Lord&#8221; The year of the Lord&#8217;s favor was a time of grace, a jubilee in which freedom was given and debts were forgiven.\u00a0 Jesus&#8217; Cross and resurrection\u00a0 brought with it completely unmerited forgiveness of sin and liberation from death.<\/li><li>Messiah &#8212; will come clothed in a robe of salvation (which brings the balm of healing) and with a mantel of justice (to set things right).\u00a0 He will wrap us in these things.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Bishop Barron encourages us to go through the passage in Isaiah step by step &#8211; to enter into the darkness of each place of oppression and brokenness and then rejoice for the Lord has come and is coming to wrap us in His robe and place his mantel up on us.\u00a0 Spend some time reflecting on the passage.\u00a0 Consider the things that have caught you up in your own life.\u00a0 What self-imposed prisonment has Christ come to liberate you from?\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Christ enters into our poverty in order to make us rich &#8211; that is why we rejoice.\u00a0 How does knowing our poverty, our brokenness and our lack of freedom help us to enter into the joy that the Lord calls us to?\u00a0 How can we share that joy?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Rejoice!<\/li><\/ul><div id=\"934E94AF_BA50_8F82_0796_A6C6DCC5005F\">\u00a0<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2632fc1 elementor-widget
